
Born in 1975, Genu Berlo is a
Romanian-American artist who lives and
works in New York City and Bucharest. His studies include fine arts at the
Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC, architecture and mathematics at
the University of Bucharest. For over a decade he worked as design
architect for New York City’s various architectural firms, including
world’s highly renowned Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM). Since
2012 he started his own artistic practice, including painting and sculpture,
and in October of 2019 took place his first solo show at Atelier090202 art
gallery in Bucharest directed by Mihai Zgondoiu. Previously he
participated in group shows at Contempora Gallery Bucharest, and Ion
Mincu University Art Show. His work is obviously most influenced by
the New York school of abstraction and the german neo-expressionism.
